8/20/2024 – Cloudy day ahead which will keep temps down, but humidity high.
I saw reports of the most significant hail of 2.5 inches in Sterling! That is incredible! The radar showed explosive development, which meant we had very strong updrafts yesterday, which also threw rain way up in the atmosphere and froze it and then kept that ice ball up in the air for a long time and added layer after layer of ice before they were finally heavy enough to fall because the updrafts could not keep them in the air. It is very rare for this area to see hail that big!
Tomorrow's rain chances dropped to 50% but should increase slightly. We have a slight risk for severe weather TOMORROW (2 out of 5). Severe wind will be the highest risk, and there may be some hail. I will keep watch. The total rain outlook is not very wet, but any storm can drop more than the general forecast.
Another severe threat may occur on Sunday.
Then we cool down and turn drier!
